Can I change my animation type from generic to humanoid even if it's only part of a humanoid?

I have arms that I’m using for my first person game, with the generic animation type. However, I want to set them to humanoid so I can utilize the humanoid features like IK. I’m wondering if this will work as they are only arms and not the rest of the humanoid. But, the arms are just regular human arms so if I had the rest of the body it could be considered a humanoid.

Thanks.
Also I do hope this makes sense I’m not great at English.

Short answer I am pretty sure is yes. You need to map your arms’ transforms to the arm transform on the canonical bone structure but then running humanoid animas should move the arms as they woudl if they were part of an entire body.
