Why does the aspect ratio not change with width?

This maybe a newbie question, but here goes:

I’m trying to calibrate the camera viewport, but I noticed that when I change the width of the viewport, the width of the objects visible doesn’t change. When I change the height, they do change. Why is that, and is there a way to get the width of the objects to change along with the width of the camera viewport?

I’m not sure what I changed, but it works as expected now. I think I changed how I imported the image I was using for my calibration. I don’t remember how I did it at first, but the second time I copied the picture into my “Standard Assets” folder, then navigated to it from within Unity, and then clicked on it and changed Texture type to “Sprite” and then hit apply. I think I might have imported the image differently the first time around.
