Create animated scene in Maya and play it out in Unity.

Basically, at my company we know how to do 3D animation in Maya for a traditional film/tv workflow. What we would like to be able to do is create an animated scene in Maya and then import it into Unity so the camera can be moved by an end user.
There will be no (or minimal) interaction; it will simply be a pre-scripted scene that plays out around the user.

We’ve had trouble importing animations from Maya into Unity (via fbx) - the objects show up but do not animate. I’ve been tasked with figuring out the Unity end of things and am not making much progress.

Let’s just imagine you create a fairground scene in Maya with a ferris wheel and a carousel and a roller coaster, all manually animated in Maya, and you want to import the entire scene into Unity so that a user could “enter” the scene and explore it in real time. What’s the simplest way of doing this?

Thank you!

Hi - once imported you would need to set up your clips and set the conditions under which your animations play, loop or are triggered. The simplest way to do this would be to check out some of our great tutorials in the learn section. Here are some useful links:

Good luck and have fun!
