Just installed unity 5. Every time I get to "start using unity" button it fails and closes.

I have not been able to open Unity 5 yet. I went through all the parts explaining my country, what i intend to use it for, and sign in with my email. However when click I get started it closes immediately.

Now when I click unity first I get an error saying “The license file directory does not exist and needs to be created in a process with elevated privileges. A separate process will be spawned to do this, and you will be prompted for permissions. To avoid this, run the installer which automatically creates this directory.” I have ran the installer multiple times now. Still the same outcome.

I click OK on this, and i am asked for my password so unity can make changes. i do so. I’m then taken to the activate your license page.
I check Unity 5 personal edition, agree to the terms, and click ok. I then get a “failed to write license file” error. it explains that “Failed to write “/Library/Application Support/Unity/Unity_v5.x.ulf”. Please verify you have write permissions to this file.”. I click ok, then I am given the first error message as well concerning the directory not existing. I click ok, give my password again, and I am presented with the “start using unity” window. I click start using unity, and the program immediately quits showing no sign of opening.

Sorry if this is a bit text heavy. Does anyone have any ideas how i can open the program?

The following worked for me:

sudo /Applications/Unity/Unity.app/Contents/MacOS/Unity

After that Unity doesn’t require admin privileges. Really bad bug.
