How to edit meshes in Maya instead of MotionBuilder

Whenever I double click on an FBX mesh it opens in Motion Builder, which I really don't want to spend time learning.

Where in Unity can I set preferences so that meshes open in Maya?

or

How can I make it so that Maya starts up when I double click on a mesh file, or an fbx file?

thanks,

Elizabeth

Unity opens your assets with the default application registered in the operating system for the given file extension.

So, under Windows for example, you would open windows explorer, browse to your .fbx file, right click->open with, select Maya and check "always use this program to open this kind of files".

An exception to this rule are scripts (and images, if you like), as you define their default editor in Unity->Edit->Preferences.

Elizabeth,

You have to import the FBX files in Maya.
