Unity on Linux -current state of IDE, options , and video playback

Searching on the Unity site for Linux support only came up with this page http://unity3d.com/unity/multiplatform/desktop
Is there a Linux version of the IDE for download?
I will be focusing on video playback and optimization. Are there any 3rd party plugins that would be useful?
I cam across this but not sure if it will work on Linux. http://renderheads.com/portfolio/UnityAVProQuickTime/

Hello!

The Unity editor isn’t supported on Linux.

You can publish games made on Windows or OSX to Linux though. For more details see Linux Publishing in Unity 4.0 | Unity Blog.

This http://wiki.unity3d.com/index.php/Running_Unity_on_Linux_through_Wine might be of help to find workarounds. It helped people solve various problems with Unity under Wine.

You can add your feedback votes to this topic http://feedback.unity3d.com/unity/all-categories/1/top/active/platforms-unity-editor-for-linu to show increased demand for it.

Cheers, Stefan/Unity QA

I’m not sure what you mean by the “IDE”, but no, you can’t develop Unity games in Linux. The page you reference is about publishing games to Linux.
