BasicOutline: Inside of Object

I am trying to make the player know what object they’ve selected, and I need to do this via an outline. Unfortunately, using Toony-BasicOutline, I can only get the outline around the border of the object, and not inside. I want something like in Minecraft.

I have no idea how Minecraft does it, but in any case take a look at the Silhouette Outline Shader from the Unity wiki (seems to be down atm):
