Hi, I’m trying to display a second camera view in the main camera. Not in the corner or on the side but more in the middle. My game is a space shooter and in the menu I wan to have a GUI menu with in the middle a 3d model of the ship that you can rotate. That camera would have to be on top of the GUI menus.
Is that possible? I have no idea where to begin at all… I know that with View Port Rect you can show it from one of the edges of the screen but that just wont do.
You can use the View Port Rect to center the secondary camera.
Try setting one at x=0.25, y=0.25, w=0.5, h=0.5 in the inspector.
Set this secondary camera as a child of the main camera you’re using with it’s position and rotations zeroed out.
Uncheck “GUILayer” on this secondary camera in the inspector.
Set it’s depth higher than the main camera so it will render on top of it as well.
Change it’s culling mask to only render a certain layer, and set the main camera to NOT render this specified layer.
Put the ship model you’re wanting to show on the layer the secondary camera is set to display, and make sure it’s positioned to where this secondary camera is looking at it.
That should get you started, at least. Then you can do whatever else to make it better for how you want it.
Edit : I guess it does go ahead and render the gui on top of the second camera anyway. Just tried it to see. Didn’t figure it would do that.
