I want to make a really nice information window that lets players know that a game item can be picked up. I want it to have a nice texture in the background and either close automatically after a few seconds or close by a key press. What a REALLY snazzy way to do this?

I am confused as to how you want to make it 'snazzy' other then to make it look good + add sound + make the appearance and disappearance look nice. You should probably use a guiWindow. To make it look nice you could have it slide in from the bottom. Then make it disappear by sliding away again. Other then that it's all graphical art and sounds.
