im trying to mke my helicopter rotos blur but have completely failed. i have tried the trail renderer and that gave me unexpected results. anyone know how to accomplish this. i also tried the camera motion blur but it made almost everything blur.
If you have pro, use the motion blur image effect.

Make the rotors have a blurred texture that uses a transparent shader.
tried this and it has failed. i used transparent/diffuse shader. also the model comes with all textures in one image
What do you mean "failed"?
You wouldn't apply the blurred transparent rotor material to the model you have, you would fade out the material on the physical rotor blades as they start to spin fast then hide them, and fade in a simple flat disk object with the "spinning rotor material" in their place.
I tried it before and it worked great, which is why I provided this answer. As far as the model coming with all textures in one image, then you'll have to fix that.
I think what ever you try with the rotor model has to fail because of the Wagon-wheel_effect! I recommend you to completely exchange the rotor model after its rotation is over a certain rpm.
I don't know how detailed your Chopper is, but to have a start the other model could be just a plane with the blured picture of the rotors... either with a 3d Program with a Renderer that really can do motion blur - (eg. with Blender or 3DsMax, Maya) or - alternatively you could just have a top view of your rotor blades put it in Photoshop to a layer and apply a radial blur filter [Filter]Blur.../Radial Blur...
