Unity Web Player Offline install for Internet Explorer

Hi all, I am using IE 8 on windows XP and want to install the Unity Web Player Plugin but it does not work when I am not connected to the internet. It installs, says finished but then IE does not “find” the plugin. This is normal I beleive as the file I am trying to install (found on the official web site) is small and perhaps for online use. When I am online it installs properly on the same machine. It is crucial to be to do this offline. Is there any way? All relative files I have found are small or if big (about 5MB) they don’t do the job.
Just to mention I have tried clear cache on the IE and restart the machine.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thank you.

There is no way to install the Unity 4.x webplayer offline. You need to be connected to the internet for Unity webplayer to install.

(Details, the installer installs an ActiveX component, and a NSAPI DLL. Once these are installed, the browser can load the plugin. The plugin will then fetch two further components, the player, and the version of Mono required, and install them. It’s a condition of the webplayer EULA that these are installed from the Unity website.)
