So you found "Animated only if visible" on Animation component. There is similar thing on SkinnedMeshRenderer - "Update when offscreen". Enable that - then it should render. Problem is that Bounding box of the skinned mesh is not recalculated every frame (for performance reasons), so in some situations (especially cutscene and procedural animations) you get bounding box in incorrect place, so it doesn't render your mesh. The checkbox should fix your problem.
