Do water script + water shader work on any other surfaces?

I'm trying to create an ocean simulation using real-time mesh manipulation scripts. For that, i need to have a plane with at least 100 vertices. So I made the plane in 3ds max, however reflection doesn't seem to work on it. Do you have any idea what's happening? and any suggestions to reduce performance cost? I've started off using CrumbleMesh.js provided by unity3d and can be downloaded here: http://unity3d.com/support/resources/example-projects/procedural-examples

very much appreciated.

I know, I'm trying to do the same thing! I just can't find out how.
