mecanim scale issue

I’m importing a rigged model fbx into unity for use with mecanim
I’m using animations stored on another rigged model. The two rigs are identical.
I need to scale both models up to 1 as they import at .01
When the animation is activated on the model, its jumps up in scale as completely deforms the model?

What is happening - both rigs are identical and each is scaled by the same amount?

I had an issue related to this, I missed like 50 assets because of complex hierarchy rigs and after the rescale the characters became useless and it was like 1 year of development missed. Unity suport kinda admited it is their fault and they will do nothing about.
