Just save your 3d max file as a FBX or save it as an Object but i recommend FBX files, save the file in a folder with all the textures and then open unity and drag the folder in to the Project section.

While in 3ds max go to save as... and navigate to your Unity Project folder, and save your model/Object (.max) anywhere within the 'Assets' folder. Switch back to Unity and the Model/Object will automatically start to be imported.

the original .max format is recommended
