Why do my FBX Files not work as Detail Meshes for Terrain?

I'm starting to create my own FBXs Files (Plants etc.) in Cinema4d, but some of them don't work as Detail Meshes with the Terrrain Script. I can load them into the Terrain Script without a problem, but when i try to use the brush to paint them on my terrain nothing happens. I already managed to create FBX Files that worked, but i don't see where my mistakes are. Pivot Point and Axis Orientation/Rotation are correct and at the bottom.

Thanks in advance for help!

Try to pack your materials to one texture and one material [which is always good idea]. Check that you have correct scale on both import and export. Then it should work.

Thanks! It looks, like Detail Meshes on Terrain only work with one material/texture. As far as i can see that solved the problem :)

I playes around a bit. And it looks like i has to do with the kind and amount of materials that i use on the mesh. As long as i only use planes and one material, everything seems fine. But when i start to use slightly more detailed shapes for the mesh and more materials on it, it stops working :(

Anybody with an idea, what i am doing wrong?

I triangulated, i doubled the layers and flipped the normals, i adjusted the pivot point... What else? :(

I will try to unwrap the mesh correctly and paint the texture right onto the unwrap. Then i should fixed the problem with the materials. But what do you mean with checking the export import scale? Where do i do that? Im relatively new to c4d and unity and im not even sure which of those programs you mean ^^°

I've already quicktested it with similar objects, where i unwrapped the mesh and painted a texture on it: With a simple cube it worked. But with a slightly more complex sword it didn't (though it only had one texture/material)

Hallo

about export import scale.

In Unity, a simple cube is like 1m³ at least I do this (perhaps is 1 foot) , if your object is too small or too large, can create weird issue

about the , there is some no good setting in fbx exporter

try to put the C4D file directly in a subfolder of Asset

or save it in from C4D

hope you understand not sure of my English

Regards

Ah ok, now i understand what was meant with export import. And no, that was not the problem. I could place them as prefabs or normal meshes into the scene. Only when i wanted to use them as a detail mesh in the terrain script it didnt work.
