Can't add physics to FBX model imported from Sketchup.

I created some 3d models using Sketchup pro (trial).

When I import them to unity I get something like this:

The problem is that I can't add physics to the model by just clicking it on the Project Assets list.

When I go to Components > Physics, they are all disabled, and can't add any of them.

The only way I found to overcome this, was to drag the desired 3d model to the scene, than crete a new prefab, and finally, drag the 3d model from the Hierarchy to the new prefab.

Is this normal, or I'm missing some point?

you can't "add physics" to a file (something in your Project list).

you can only "add physics" such as a collider, to a GameObject - something in the scene
