W key as Z key in Mac OS X

I'm using Mac OS X Lion (10.7.4) and Unity 3.5.2f2 on a MacBook Pro (15" late 2011 model) with a QWERTY keyboard.

...the problem is that Unity thinks my keyboard has a QZERTY layout: long story short, the W key gets interpreted as the Z key and vice versa.

I know that this issue has been encountered by a couple of people before me - always using a QWERTY keyboard on OS X - but I've not find a relevant fix.

  1. My keyboard and keys aren't damaged and work fine outside of Unity.
  2. I've tried changing keyboard layout but it didn't worked.
  3. I've tried remapping the keys (assets) but it didn't worked: the W gets always interpreted like it's a Z.
  4. My Unity version is the latest available. My OSX version is the latest not-dev available.
  5. This bug happens while using the editor, while trying out a game inside the editor, while using a web-based unity game. Basically it happens in any unity-related context - but NOT in MonoDevelop and any text field, where hitting 'w' writes a 'w' and hitting a 'z' writes a 'z'.

It's a really annoying bug: can you tell me how to solve it?

It's not a new bug: is it known to the Unity release developers? If this is a Unity bug (it could be an OS X's one), does anybody know if this bug will be fixed in an upcoming Unity release?

Bye!
