Hi Is there any forums where people volunteer or trade work related to Unity 3D projects? Im running a visuals company in Copenhagen Denmark called Dark Matters. http://www.darkmatters.dk We are creating an interactive music video game, for Chicago based artist Shivani, produced by Julius Sylvest. The video game is following an abstract narrative of an disaster based in Pondicherry India, where a huge tornado attacked the city. Basically the "game" is based on a simple first person shooter game, with no shooting, where the player can move a few meters side to side and look around, but being controlled dragged along the scenarioes matching the music. The game will be available to play directly in a browser as a flash game. The game consist of 7 3D scenes, and in 3 of the scenes the artist Shivani will appear in different variations, both as a closeup in front of the player, standing on the floor in a jungle, on the sky in the clouds and hanging in the air. All the visual side and the 3D scens are basically finished, but we need help for the animated path, and including the artist in the game. To make Shivani appear in the video Unity 3D supports video textures, and we have figured out to make the right alpha channels of the green screen studio recordings we will recieve from chicago, so basically everything is set to be released for Mac and PC as a standalone application. But to make the video footage work in flash we still need some work to be done. We have two solutions to make the video work with the current technology available. One is to make simple "animated textures" in Unity 3D and instead of normal 30 frames per second, make it a visual style that the artist footage appears in strobes with only 2-5 frames per second. And that will work and look pretty cool too, and should be fairly easy to do. But there is still a solution to implement a live stream of a video file in the flash builds from unity, and that nut could take some hours to crack. (I have some links we should be looking into) Right now i am putting together a small team, that will work together with me to make this happen, and having the strobe/low fps solution as a backup. After the final technical solution is found, we are going to time the video with the rest of the game. That means to engange in this project, you should be willing to put at least a week full time or more, depending on how many people we need to be, i am right now counting on 3. You can work from you own office, we will control everything over email. In return we can offer you to be among the few people to release an amazing project, and to make a music video game which is a new fancy word i just came up with + make a great game together with Dark Matters, we really hope you would :) P.S. Nobody is earning a dime on this, this is one of the few selected projects we have decided to do for free this year. We get 1000$, but those will go right into the black hole of actually buing a unity 3D license for 3000$ If your interested i can send you a link to the work in progress so far, please drop me an email in any case· rune@darkmatters.dk
