Build process stops; no error message

My current project works fine in the editor. It compiles and runs the current scene. I wanted to build (via the build and run option), but it fails to build the current scene. It just stops with a beep. There is no error message or any other indicators for why it stopped compiling.

I have no idea what to do next besides submitting a bug report (done).

Can anyone let me know what the likely problems are?

Just as hint: at the console windows top right corner you see a button "open editor log". This will open the editor log file which usually logs detailed information about the whole building process. If the build fails you should find the information there.
