Wall sconce with dancing Flame

What is the best way to make a flickering flame in a lantern or wall sconce?

Particles seem to make fire OK, but I only want a single flame not a bunch. I know about SpriteManager but it seems a little much. I also saw about translating the texture along but that seemed really complicated as well.

Here is how I do my candle, sconce or lantern flames. You can see all the pertinent settings for the particle in the image below. The biggest thing is making sure only one particle spawns (emission) and that is has a very long life (energy).

Also I made the ellipsoid emitter as tiny as possible so when the particle does respawn it is in the exact same position.

Right click the image and choose view for the full sized image.

Awesome. That will work fine.
