iPhone 3D sound on instantiated objects not 3D'ing

I have instantiated objects passing by my camera with the audio listener. Platform is the iPhone.

My object prefab has an audio source attached to it. I am instantiating one every few seconds far away from the camera and they fly towards the camera. The problem is I can hear it far away, at the same rollof factor I set, the same as I hear it when it passes by. It is an uncompressed mono .wav file.

Is there a certain file time, bit rate, etc. the file must be in to work optimally with the iPhone to support pitch adjustment or 3D sound? I can't seem to set the pitch lower than .5 also. I was hoping to get the doppler effect as the object passed by my camera.

Thanks.
