Monodevelop silent crash

Whenever i try to lauch monodevelop on Mac it bounces down the bottom and never runs. When i look at the logs,i see a fatal error amongst other exeptions:

FATAL ERROR [2012-02-01 17:04:53Z]: MonoDevelop failed to start. Some of the assemblies required to run MonoDevelop (for example gtk-sharp, gnome-sharp or gtkhtml-sharp) may not be properly installed in the GAC.

Any idea what's up with this? I'd really like some auto completion since i come from using Visual Studio and now im stuck with a stupid text editor which barely does syntax highlighting.

What version of MacOS are you running? Try reinstalling Unity, and then see if you can copy monodevelop into a folder that you have permissions over (i.e, your user's applications folder) and then use that instance of the program as the default text editor.
