Fbx importing on round scaled surfaces will not render mesh in unity

Well I am using Maya's thirty day trial, and encountered a problem. Any curved surface I scale does not render when imported in unity. Any ideas?

Get a serial number, and I believe it'll be okay, trial is really bad when importing to unity.

BTW tried your game, noticed an error, if you kill yourself it gives your team a point.

I haven't used maya to import to unity but my 'Instict' says to check a couple of things.

  • convert your nurbs to polygons. (curved surface) modify - convert - nurbs to polygons. play with the values to make a nice tessellation for your model.

  • If you don't have animation It might be a good idea to create a polygon cube at 0,0,0 with 0,0,0 scale etc. and combine it with your scaled object, then delete your cube. This will reset all the values of the surface that you were working to 0.0.0, there is also a mel script for that.

  • reset Transform and delete history.

Well for some reason it will not let me convert them, do you have an email I could send you the file at?

Sorry but i haven't got Maya at my workstation. ? when maya doesn't do something it prints a message at the command bar (bottom left or right). Are you at object mode? Go to object mode delete history and it should work ...

It just said that I had no objects selected even after I selected everything.

Hmm that's weird...did it say that "no valid items selected" ?it can be loads of things. If you right click on top of model does it says that it has edges and faces (polygons) or that it has isoparms surface point etc (nurbs). if it is nurbs it should be straight forward to convert it to polygons, you have to right click on your model and be sure that it is in object mode and then modify/convert nurbs to polygons ... click on the circle next to the command so you can select the options of the conversion.

If not and your model is polygons go On your viewport menu in maya go to shading and check backface culling. is everything displayed correctly?are there any faces facing the other way. And just make sure that before you do anything go to edit/delete all by type/ history.
