No control in Game Window. Please help!

No control in Game Window. Please help!

I'm just downloaded Unity version 3.4.2f2, free version. (Complete Unity newbie here). I've built a demo scene, with landscape, sounds and First Person Controller. When I click Play, the Game Window does not respond to any keyboard or mouse input -- I can see the assets but can't move in the game window. With Play running I can use the mouse and arrow keys to move the FPC around in the Scene view, but no action at all in Game... What am I doing wrong??

According to a tutorial I'm working with I should be able to move around in the Game Window with the W, A, S and D keys... The script on the Player under First Person Controls (FirstPersonControl.js) references TouchPads and joysticks -- do I need those? I just want to run around in Game view with a mouse!

Windows 7 64 bit.

Thanks for any help! Lee

Thanks for the links! I'll take a look -- I've built a simpler scene where everything works, but I'll check youtube too. Thanks again for the help!

Hello Lee,

Are you sure you are moving? try to place cubes in the scene and try again.

If you have a floor of the same texture and nothing on it, it doesnt look like your moving but you are. You dont need and joysticks or such, dont worry. oh and about that script on the player, if it is already in the standard prefab it is OK.

If you want here is a very basic scripting tutorial(PDF)

And here you can find even more tutorials(vids)

And of course you could always check youtube.

good luck.
