SketchUp Sandbox vs. Unity Terrain

I'm planning on using SketchUp's Sandbox tool to make terrains for Unity, but I noticed that it has over 2000 poly's for a large map. I was wondering, what is better for performance? SketchUp Sandbox or the Unity Terrain. I was thinking of possibly integrating both, by importing the Sandbox Terrain, and then using the Unity Terrain Tools to smooth it out, and make some other changes. I know this is possible, but I'm not sure which is better for performance. Since I'm working for mobile, I want to get every last bit of performance out of my games. Thanks.

2000 polys would be about the same as a terrain of about 32x32 in size. I haven't played with terrains on mobile yet, can't say how well they perform, but if that size is about the same, probably built-in terrain would be more optimized (I would hope).

But if I just scale up the size in SketchUp, poly count will be the same and it will be as large as I need it to be. Plus, I can actually delete poly's I don't need in SketchUp for optimization.

I say try it, and post your results (here if you don't mind).

It actually has about 4 times less tris and about 2 times less vertices. As for FPS, it didn't enough for anything worth noting. My one problem is that I would like to add the terrain script so I can edit my terrain, smooth it out, add color, etc... but I can't seem to find a way to add that to it. Is there a way?

Which script? Is it an Editor script? You can create custom editors, if that's what you mean

You know, when you create a terrain, there's a script to edit it, smooth it out, you know what I mean. If you look at the component, it says Terrain (script), with a terrain symbol. If you edit the script it's blank and won't open.
