what is a good, easy to use modeling software besides blender?

i was making a game and i decided that i wanted so good modeled objects in my game. i downloaded blender and i made the object and i tried to make a material for it, but i couldn't so i painted it. when it looked good, i imported it to unity and the material did not import too. so i kept trying and trying to get it to make a material but it never got it to work. so i deleted blender and now i am in need of a good quality modeling software that is really easy to use and free. got any ideas?

"Really easy to use and free" would be Google SketchUp. It can export Collada-files, which you can import in blender (because the unity collada importer didn't work properly for me) and export to fbx again. But the modeling itself is very easy. However, it's worth learning blender ;)!
