Unity has been crashing the past couple of times as I try importing a large folder containing many sub-directories containing textures to collada files in the folder. Is there a quicker way to import?

Which Unity? There was a problem in one of Unity 3.4 builds - the final build of Unity 3.4.1 should fix it.
