Getting strange artifacts(?) when baking lightmaps.

I get black lines along the wireframe of the mesh, and if I don’t put the resolution high and do final gather, I get strange shadows that only show up on one polygon, but not the next.

I fixed this by increasing the pack margin from 4 to 40 under advanced settings under mesh import settings for all the meshes in my project.

The artifacts are caused by the new Unity 5 lightmapper being poorly optimized for low poly objects.
