New Arms for every Gun model or IK targets?

Hey, I want to make a multiplayer FPS. I already created the whole Body of my character wich is only seen by the other player and several guns with the same arms for each one. Now I realised that I need to change the texture of ALL gun arms for example if I want to implement clothing. So I thought about using IK targets for my hands and only using the gun models without the arms attached to them. What do you guys think? Should I attach arms to every gun model or use only one pair of arms and control their position/rotation with IK targets? And how is it done usually?

I’d go ahead and use whatever saves you the most time. You don’t need new arms, just new animations for how they should be held.
