This is a problem that occurs from ver 5.5 to 100%.
The error message is as follows.
Timestamps (55) and assets (58) maps out of sync.
Asset with GUID 67e9dad5654047ebbe623cce9dbf7b38 has empty path but has assettimestamp???
Asset with GUID 52a206b72a8f4f749c28d8b18b42dd19 has empty path but has assettimestamp???
Asset with GUID f48df919adea4fa095a7407e773e5aa4 has empty path but has assettimestamp???
This is also a problem with empty projects.
If an error occurs:
Create a blank project in Unity 5.5.0f3.
I use GITHUB. So Settings Change. Edit -> Project Settings -> Editor Version Control : visible Meta Files / Asset Serialization : Force Text
Open the project again.
You can View the error message in the console.
This happens 100%. I think it's a flaw in Unity. Furthermore, it is a problem that occurs even in an empty project.
I hope this problem is resolved quickly.
Same error, same inability to resolve. Not sure what to do about this, just adding my story.
I got the same error, repeated for 3 IDs. For example, the error for ID 52a206b72a8f4f749c28d8b18b42dd19 is "Asset with GUID 52a206b72a8f4f749c28d8b18b42dd19 has empty path but has assettimestamp???"
As expected, the files are all located under the Unity's own generated files: Library/metadata//52a206b72a8f4f749c28d8b18b42dd19.
When looking into each of the files with this ID, each file has a similar content, which includes the string "name: UnityEngine.Networking" (*). Not sure if relevant, because the project files include 5 files with this string, and Unity raises the error only for 3 of them.

It appears to be a known bug in 5.5 that won't be fixed until 5.6. Very ugly.
It appears patch 5.5.0p1 fixes this issue.
I have 5.5 p3 and still the same error... so it is NOT fixed

Same problem here. But I still can make a build. How can this problem affect it ?

Hi, when you not use Collaborate, then you can go to Edit -> Project Settings -> Editor and then change Asset Serialization to Mixed.
I tried this but even if I save, when I load the project again the Asset Serialization Mode is changed again to "Force Text".
Up to 2 attachments (including images) can be used with a maximum of 524.3 kB each and 1.0 MB total.
