I have several scripting assets that I would love to share. Since I’ve put some effort into them, I would like to get some profit. However, I would also love to give something back to the community, since I’ve learned so much from the many great free resources out there. So, here is the solution I’ve come up with: I will publish the assets with a price on Unity Asset Store, and also publish them in GitHub with a CC non-commercial license. This way people can use them for learning for free, but will have to pay for using them commercially. My questions are:
- Is this legal and compatible with Unity’s Asset Store license?
- Is there a way (besides ethics and moral) to enforce or at least try to avoid people downloading the free version and using it commercially?
- Is this at least legally binding.
- Is there any other way to achieve this?
