We’ve been dealing with this problem for a while now and it does not appear that anyone else is having this problem, or, there doesn’t seem to be a solution that we can find.
Main problem: Receive a 407 proxy authentication error while trying to download assets from the asset store.
Situation:
- Working from a school network behind a proxy server.
- Network is administered through RES Powerfuse
- Unity is a trusted site, allowed to bypass the proxy
This does not solve the problem. Various solutions have been tried (setting/overriding Windows/IE settings etc.)
What did work (temporarily and partly):
- Looking in the network card to find the address it was actually trying to reach, which turned out to be an amazon cloud server
- Adding this cloud server to the trusted list
- Quite a few assets could now be downloaded, presumably those not accessible resided on a different cloud server
Current problem:
- Back to square one, no assets can be downloaded
- Possibly assets moved to a different cloud server (have to bring in external help to look at this if nothing else works)
Requests/possible solutions:
- Is there a setting within unity that will allow it to not use the proxy server at all?
- Is there a list somewhere of what servers the assets are actually stored on?
- Any kind of plugin available that will allow unity to bypass the proxy?
- Any other kind of solution
Thanks,
Paul
