volumetric light/sun shaft test

Hello,
I’m a student from a design university in Germany and currently I’m learning to work properly with unity and got stuck on advanced lightning effects.

I just watched this Volumetric lights test in Unity 3 - YouTube Video which really inspired and amazed me. I tried to get a similar effect too but i couldn’t handle it by myself.

I would be very pleased if you could help me out to get a proper volumetric light effect or at least give me some hints (:

I found a mention of this on the forums. The project the guy lists there has an example of a light shaft and there’s a basic run-down of how it was recommended to construct it.

Essentially, they’re modeling it with a static light source and some translucent gameobjects with special shaders. If that’s good enough for your purpose, just go with that.
