This happened with me with photoshop. n matter how many times I installed and unistalled it. It began to start up but after a few seconds it stopped and the process ended. I installed it on my memory stick and tried it on a different on a different computer and it worked. So I had to buy a different version of photoshop (I bought CS4) and then it worked on my computer. I suggest you upgrade to unity3.3. A few weeks later I reinstalled my OS and Photoshop CS5 was working again.

Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling Unity? I've had this problem when Unity crashes importing something, then again when it restarts, reloads the project, reimports the same object, and crashes again. You could also try moving the folder containing your project somewhere else so it can't find it on restart. You can hold down the alt button while it is starting to avoid open the last project.

Statement: thanks for that tip. I was wondering how one did that.

Be more specific.. are you getting any error message for example?
I dont know why this was voted negative (just voted it up) because i have the exact same problem on Windows7 64... I havent used Unity for some time, came back, and it does not start anymore. The process is showing up for a few seconds but then its gone without any message.
I am now having this problem as well with the latest release on Macintosh.
It worked ONCE when authorizing the license, opened the project once, and now, nothing. I too have removed it and reinstalled, tossed the preferences, held the ALT key, and even deleted the project folder so it would not try and open it. NOTHING.
Any suggestions? For the price of this software, I would expect a bit better support. So far, not impressed.
@orr: This is not an answer!
How perceptive of you.. That may be why I put it in the comments area rather than the answer area, as I too would like to know the solution. If I had an answer,I would have put it down below where it says "Answer"
