Unity for freeware?

Hello,

I am a student and made a 3D editor and i wanted to put it up in windows store for free.
Can i use unity to make freeware? Would i own the full rights of the content i created?

In general Yes and Yes.

However you have to be careful when saying “student”. If you create this at home with a Unity personal license that’s all fine, you can even sell it if you want. Of course watch the license conditions. As long as you don’t earn more than $100k per year it’s all fine. If you do this within your university / school it gets a bit difficult. schools and universities require a seperate educational license. I don’t have a list of the exact restrictions, but i guess you can still publish it as freeware. AFAIK edu-licenses are not allowed to sell their products as it’s ment for education only but don’t take my word on it.

Also most universities claim a usage right on things created during a schoolarship, mostly for advertising purposes. You usually still own your content though.

If you create it at home in your free time using the personal edition it’s definitely a “Yes and Yes”.
