Why isn't Unity saving Animation Event?

I open the animation panel, select my rig, set an animation event run

it works great!

I save my changes (ctrl+s) close and open unity again

open the animation panel with the selected rig andthe animation event is not there!?

such an annoying issue…

any directions?

Tap on your animation in project and press Ctrl+D.

Have a look at this forum entry and the answer by @DizzyWascal. Your animation is probably read-only, but you can edit the animation inside the model directly where the event is saved persistently.
